One of the greatest moments of the year is here: College football season!
As a college student, you have an amazing opportunity to be a part of the action by cheering on your team from the stands (which, by the way, is still one of my favorite memories).
But cheering is only half the part.
The other half comes in the form of your fashion!
While some students choose to paint their faces, put on temporary tattoos, or dye their hair the school colors, others prefer to show off their team spirit through fashion.
And that’s where I come in… I’m going to give you some great fashion choices to wear at your college football games so that you can feel stylish while supporting your school!

The Preppy Look
If polo shirts are more your style than anything else, then you probably have one of the easiest college game day fashion looks to pull off because polo shirts can be found in all types of colors.
You can easily complete your look with a scarf that matches your school, some stylish flats, and maybe even some statement earrings to give your preppy look a little more style.
Striped shirts are also a simple but fashionable college game day piece you could pair up or down, depending on the weather and how much school spirit you want to show. Some schools (Duke is one) pride themselves in wearing striped shirts to some athletic events!
Money Saving Tip: Shop through thredUP to get any piece of clothing imaginable for a fraction of the cost you would pay in-store!
Dress to Impress
If you prefer a dressier outfit, then you could easily doll yourself up, throw on a dress, and feel right at home because being a fashionista at football games is now a big thing.
You literally have hundreds of game dress options because pretty much any sundress or casual dress can be made into a game day fashion piece.
I personally went to TCU and there were girls who wore purple dresses with cowboy boots to every game. It amazed me how such a simple outfit could actually be turned into a fashionista’s college football attire.
Side Note: I would not recommend wearing heels since your feet will be killing you by the time you are done walking through the bleachers and around the stadium. As an alternative, slip on a pair of cute flats or sandals!
Accessorize to the Max
I always considered myself a more simple fan when it came to choosing what I was going to wear on college game days.
Instead of opting for a cute dress, I chose a t-shirt with our mascot on it and some sayings that we used to chant during the games.
I guess you could call this the “Plain Jane” style, but I was totally ok with it!
The part where us Plain Janes could really show our school spirit was through accessorizing.
Some of the easiest things you can get to accessorize your look are:
- Earrings
- Necklaces
- Totes
- Shoes (either with your school colors or a logo)
- Scarves
- Sunglasses
- Hats
- Mardi Gras beads
The opportunities are endless!

Meeting Your Other College Needs
Now that you have the fashion side of things taken care of, it’s time to focus on the academic and social side of college. I have tons of posts about college that you can find through the main menu, but here are a few of my favorites:
I wish I went to a school where girls got dressed up for football games! Sadly, I go to school on the East Coast and things are a lot different here! I would love to wear sundresses and cowboy boots to a game and not get weird looks from my classmates.

Isn’t it interesting how some parts of the country are so different than others?! I was at a football game on Saturday and saw a plethora of styles… Everyone was just kind of doing there own thing!
